Big Mountain Jam and Rocky Mountain Showcase Tournaments Proven Hometown Slam Dunks for SnapSports

Thursday, June 20th, 2019

SnapSports to provide tournament and championship basketball courts to AAU’s fastest-growing tournaments, taking place in Salt Lake City June 20–22 and 27–29.

“Home Sweet Home.” That’s the mantra for Salt Lake City-based SnapSports this weekend as they take part in AAU’s Big Mountain Jam, providing over 100,000 square feet of their industry leading indoor basketball surfacing for tournament and championship play. Big Mountain Jam, put on by AAU’s Jam On It Academy, kicks off today at the Mountain America Expo Center in Salt Lake City, Utah. Over 450 teams of boys and girls of all ages have traveled from all over the Western US and Canada to battle for the BMJ crown. Due to the size limitations of the Expo center and the high level of interest, 450 more teams will compete next weekend in the Rocky Mountain Showcase.

SnapSports Athletic Surfaces, headquartered in Salt Lake City, has been a key player in the Big Mountain Jam for almost a decade. AAU Athletes will compete on indoor basketball courts comprised of SnapSports patented Indoor BounceBack ShockTower surfacing, the only modular surface with a built-in shock absorption system, completely eliminating the need for the use of underlayment. For consistently growing tournaments, needing no underlayment saves time and money—a must for tournament directors. Jam On It & AAU chose SnapSports surfacing not only for the ease of installation, but for its guaranteed performance and focus on athlete safety. With teams of all ages playing from morning until night, surface durability and safety were of the highest priority.

“To have AAU, a world-class sports organization, which promotes healthy competitive youth sports and right here in our own backyard, is fantastic! It’s rewarding to be chosen as the AAU Big Mountain Jams’ exclusive Championship Sports flooring over all other competitors,” said Jorgen Moller – CEO of SnapSports.

The team at SnapSports is thrilled with the growth of the local AAU tournaments. Originally just Big Mountain Jam, after years of turning down teams due to space and time limitations, AAU and Jam On It officials decided to add a second weekend in 2017. Now in its third year, the dual weekend tournament continues to thrive with participation nearing a total of 1,000 teams!

SnapSports patented technologies make their surfaces an easy choice for not only AAU but for other top organizations around the world AND for family backyards, home courts, and gyms!

2019 NBA All-Star Weekend Kicks off on SnapSports Basketball Surface

Monday, February 25th, 2019

Festivities for the 2019 NBA All-Star Weekend were officially underway last weekend in Charlotte, North Carolina.

SnapSports, for the sixth consecutive year, was chosen as the flooring provider for Jr. NBA and Gatorade events happening throughout the weekend. Current and former NBA stars volunteered as coaches for the Jr. NBA skills clinic. The clinic took place on 4 full courts and 6 half courts comprised of over 33,000 square feet of SnapSports patented Maple TuffShield basketball surfacing. Boys and girls of all ages picked up tips and tricks from the likes of former MVP and current Golden State Warriors star Steph Curry, current Detroit Pistons PF Blake Griffin, and fan favorite, former Atlanta Hawk Dikembe Mutombo—just to name a few!

Following the Jr. NBA Clinics, the SnapSports indoor basketball courts installed for All-Star weekend will also be the selected site for the Quarter, Semi and Final rounds of the 19th annual Gatorade Jr. NBA All-Star Invitational. The free single elimination tournament features middle school aged boys and girls from the Charlotte Area.

The NBA All-Star game, first held in 1951, features the NBA’s biggest and brightest stars from coast to coast vying for the spotlight with 3 pointers, no look passes, and insane dunks. Over the years, the NBA has added additional aspects to All-Star weekend, outside of the game itself including: the NBA All-Star Celebrity game, the rising Stars Challenge, and several versions of “Jam Session” the main fan attraction. For the NBA, SnapSports’ versatile, high performance, portable yet safe surfaces are ideal for Jam Session, Jr. NBA, and Gatorade events.

Atlanta Hawks Choose SnapSports® for 50th Anniversary Court Gift

Wednesday, February 13th, 2019

The 50th anniversary of the NBA’s Atlanta Hawks commemorated with donation of SnapSports outdoor basketball court on January 21, 2019

As part of the organization’s commitment to community in 2015, the Atlanta Hawks Foundation pledged to build and revamp 25 metro Atlanta basketball courts by 2020. Making good on that 5 year promise, the Hawks installed the 23rd of 25 courts Monday at Selena S. Butler Park, adjacent to the Martin Luther King, Jr. Recreation and Aquatic Center. The court, comprised entirely of SnapSports NEW Outdoor Revolution® surfacing, was the first court to feature a custom gold and black design celebrating the 50th Anniversary of the Atlanta Hawks. The color scheme notably also pays tribute to Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr, honoring his national and local contributions. SnapSports, based in Utah, was ecstatic to have their product chosen for such an incredible event.

“We are proud to partner with the Atlanta Hawks Foundation on a joint mission to increase youth play, leadership skills and delivering a positive impact in local communities. The team at SnapSports is honored to have our SnapSports® Outdoor Basketball Courts chosen for these community courts,” – Jorgen Moller, CEO SnapSports

The 58′ x 102′ SnapSports Outdoor Revolution Court done in alloy, black and gold showcases a custom painted 20′ x 20′ center court logo commemorating the Hawks 50 year anniversary. The Hawks chose SnapSports Outdoor Revolution, the newest court product in the SnapSports family, for its seamless design, durability, and excellent performance metrics: including industry leading wet/dry traction and superior ball play suitable for players of all ages. The Atlanta Hawks will finish their project commitment, installing 12,000 square feet of SnapSports surfacing for courts number 24 and 25 in the summer of 2019.

The Atlanta Hawks organization, founded in 1968, embodies a strong focus on community using their ‘Building Bridges through Basketball’ programming. Outside of their commitment to revamping and building new community courts, the Hawks also offer Jr. Hawks Camps and Clinics, an academy for Coaches Education, and over 4,000 hours of community service. As written in the Building Bridges Brochure, the Hawks believe that “every child deserves the right to safe places to play and in the power of sports and the social, emotional, and physical benefits they offer kids.”

Sole DXB Takes the Meaning of “SnapSports Custom Basketball Court” to a Whole New Level.

Tuesday, February 20th, 2018

Sole DXB, a regional lifestyle platform for footwear, fashion, culture, art and design located in Dubai, has taken the meaning of “custom court” to a whole new level. In need of a not-your-average basketball court for the 2017 Sole Ball Above All Classic, Sole DXB called SnapSports. SnapSports worked with the cutting edge company to create a killer blue camouflage court. The December tournament, put on in partnership with Nike, featured 11 teams competing in 19 games for the tournament crown, trophy, and 10,000 AED (United Arab Emirates Dirhams).

Sole DXB, known for its outside-the-box forward thinking and hip hop-oriented presence, needed a court to jive with their ideals and SnapSports delivered. The custom camouflage DuraCourt® basketball surface was manufactured and painted at the SnapSports facility in Salt Lake City, Utah, then later made the roughly 8,000 mile trip to Dubai. This is the second custom court for the Sole Above All Classic that SnapSports has created—the first being an equally cool, equally custom court designed in a pixelated pattern.

The SnapSports team was beyond stoked to work with such a cool company on such an insanely awesome court. We can’t wait to see what Sole DXB can dream up for future years of the Sole Ball Above All Classic. Sky’s the limit!

See the official Sole DXB website for information from the most recent and previous years.
