2019 NBA All-Star Weekend Kicks off on SnapSports Basketball Surface

Festivities for the 2019 NBA All-Star Weekend were officially underway last weekend in Charlotte, North Carolina.

SnapSports, for the sixth consecutive year, was chosen as the flooring provider for Jr. NBA and Gatorade events happening throughout the weekend. Current and former NBA stars volunteered as coaches for the Jr. NBA skills clinic. The clinic took place on 4 full courts and 6 half courts comprised of over 33,000 square feet of SnapSports patented Maple TuffShield basketball surfacing. Boys and girls of all ages picked up tips and tricks from the likes of former MVP and current Golden State Warriors star Steph Curry, current Detroit Pistons PF Blake Griffin, and fan favorite, former Atlanta Hawk Dikembe Mutombo—just to name a few!

Following the Jr. NBA Clinics, the SnapSports indoor basketball courts installed for All-Star weekend will also be the selected site for the Quarter, Semi and Final rounds of the 19th annual Gatorade Jr. NBA All-Star Invitational. The free single elimination tournament features middle school aged boys and girls from the Charlotte Area.

The NBA All-Star game, first held in 1951, features the NBA’s biggest and brightest stars from coast to coast vying for the spotlight with 3 pointers, no look passes, and insane dunks. Over the years, the NBA has added additional aspects to All-Star weekend, outside of the game itself including: the NBA All-Star Celebrity game, the rising Stars Challenge, and several versions of “Jam Session” the main fan attraction. For the NBA, SnapSports’ versatile, high performance, portable yet safe surfaces are ideal for Jam Session, Jr. NBA, and Gatorade events.
